My bounce back.

My story begins with a little bit of heart break. I had been dating a girl for about eight years, since I was an eighteen year old young man. It was a young and sometimes dumb relationship, but overall it was a good one. We had loved each other very much, and to make a long story short, she had gotten sick of my "downer" ways. She finally decided to break up with me, and pursue a career teaching in Germany. This is how my comeback story begins...

After being crushed by the "love of my life", and after being left all alone, I decided that I didn't much like the company I kept, that company being myself. This is when I decided that I needed to change who I was from the ground up. I bought some exercise gear, some running shoes, and ran my first twelve miles in a local park. It was kind of like my "Run, Forrest, Run!" moment in my life. I never stopped working out and kept it moving the whole time.

These goals have led my to reach even more milestones.  I went back to college, started teaching, eating right, and being an overall better person. I would never change the way I am now. I look back at the man I was and I will never return there, but I will never forget the lessons it taught me either. Thankfully for Macks book, it has made me realize all of my goals and hard work has not been for naught. Thanks Mack! Never quit!

Thank YOU!

Very much appreciate you sharing your personal story here. Mack is always so touched to know that his work has made a difference in anyone's life in any way, so thank you for your kind words. You are what NDCQ is all about. You made a decision and you set up your target and you did not stop until you knocked it down. Very moving! I know there were certainly challenges along the way and probably still are, maybe even daily. But, you are the embodiment of what we want to inspire in others and in ourselves even and I feel so very blessed our paths have crossed.

Thank you!

I never even realized you guys featured me on here! Thanks everyone! I just ran and told my friends about it. I'm honored!

Im glad you shared!

Its amazing how one of the worst moments of our lives can be the springboard for the good stuff yet to come. You took the opportunity to turn a bad situation into something good in your life. Great job doing that. Give yourself credit because many people quit at that moment. The value of mistakes and misery is what we learn from them. As Randy Pauch put it "The best gold is at the bottom of the barrels of crap!" Keep moving forward my friend, i appreciate your story. Deb
