What are your goals for 2012?

Jen, Christine, Doc, Franscoise, Mandy and every other NDCQer out there, Hi and hope 2012 is going well. What goals are you working on for this year and have you got a plan of attack yet? Most of mine are continuations of reaching targets I set last summer and fall. Maybe we can help each other stay on track to reach them and not lose momentum as the year goes by. And man does time fly by! Heres mine, wanna share yours?

Grow my parenting class in numbers and quality

Finish my degree by summer

Walk the 3 K at the end of March early April

Get the ankle in shape to walk the 3K!

Keep loosing weight and improving my physical condition.

Play!

2012

Hello everyone,

Finally made up my goals for 2012. The last few weeks haven't been easy. A lot of psysical problems again. It just seems impossible te improve my condition. After only 2 minutes of running my heartrate is over 160 bpm. At that moment I feel absolutely fine en it feels like if I could go continue for a long time. But afterwards my body starts screaming and shouting. Pain in my joints, shorth of breath and dizziness...So I am going to train with help from a physiotherapist and a sportspsychologist. I hope they can help me overcome the problems. So one of my goals is to run 5 or 10 K by the end of the year without any psycical problems.

The second goal is to learn to say no to others (particularly at my work). Is also going to be a hard one because I always want people to like me so it's very hard to say no, my boss knows that and she is using me. (hope that the sportspsychologist can help me with that also)

But my main goal for this year: I hope the get pregnant. My husband and I would really like to become parents. So we practice a lot winkand hope and pray that it will all work out the right way.

It's really good to read all your goals. Wish you aal the best and hope to hear from you soon!

Francoise

WOW!

I am sorry to hear the physical problems are giving you difficulties my friend. I hope the specialists can get you feeling better. I know how frustrating it can be. My best wishes to you in getting pregnant! What a great blessing for your family! My high hopes for you with that goal! Practice makes perfect right? LOL You are in my thoughts and prayers. I have had many problems saying "no" to bosses in the hospital who always call you in on your days off and pressure you to say yes because it solves their problems. Unfortunatly solving others problems can create some for you. Remember you have every right to say "No" and you and your time are as valuable as anyone elses. Guilt is a unsustainable motivator. If you can't do it willingly with an open heart say no. Resentment is a bad thing for the soul. Best wishes always, Deb

My targets for this year 2012

Hello guys hope you are having a great afternoon. Here in Quito-Ecuador it is a very rainy afternoon, a little chilly but ok.

Starting this year, I got the feeling of good vibe, good energy and good things to come. I am stronger than ever in terms of my faith to the Lord.

My targets are diverse but all of them important and meaningful to me:

Athletically: Well I am all into endurance sports, from running to tris...to ultras to mountain climbing. So my targets are this year at least o full marathons, one half, one 50k. Because of logistics and travel issues, I might not be able this year to compete in a triathlon, but still keeping my blocks of training just in case the opportunity comes. About my mountaineering career well, I am trying to stay as fit as ever to tackle a big one here in the Andes, maybe Cotopaxi or Cayambe, which I took my fiancé there yesterday to do some glacier school and she is really turning surely into a great climber herself.

Personally: Well with the blessing of the Lord we are aiming for a new zip code with my fiancé. We loved so much Houston when we lived there, so right now we are working furiously to get back there, and with the blessing of the Lord make it our home for good there. Hard...hard...target, but we are sure that with love and perseverance we will conquer it.

Spiritually: I am catholic at faith, active and practice the religion but I have been curious and interested in Buddhism so I am reading quite some about that wonderful philosophy and knowledge.

Professionally: Well, I am doing alright. I am happy and enjoying my work. If the zip code change comes to reality well, an eventual switch of direction might be necessary but happy I´ll do it for the sake of the project.

Health wise: Well....Hmmm, this is something that for a 35 years old gets annoying. I suffer from a chronic condition of acid over production and acid reflux in my gastrointestinal tube. Sucks....! 7 years ago already I had to go a tumultuous year of treatments, medicines and diet. In 2010 I had a new bout, and I had to go through painful studies and even considered a Nissen surgical procedure to protect my esophagus from the damage of the acid. Well....science and discipline conquered the sucker disease and I am doing good. I have to take courses of meds, take good care of my diet..exercise a lot (not a problem)...and I am working with some great specialists so I am sure that we are going to find a definitive solution...and no surgery. Folks I am a doctor...and I get scare shitless when I talk about a potential surgery on moi.

So that is it folks...God bless us all this year. There might be harsh times, challenges...but at the end...NDCQ...and we will be triumphant. So as I said in my mind every time I am taking the starting line at a race: BRING IT!

NDCQ to you all,

Doc

Awesome Deb. We are your

Awesome Deb. We are your cheerleaders! Keep it up!

My first target was the traditional get the office organized - out with the old paperwork and files and in with the new and it's taken 2 weeks, but I'm about done!! "Thank YOU DeeDee for your help!!"

I want to keep up my CrossFit Training to build my endurance for a half marathon. I do not have a target date - but I will knock it out. Every single workout I tell myself (after I say NDCQ 100x of course) that "This is all for that Half Mary!"

I want to take a family vacation. We are always being pulled in tons of directions and my excuse is our kids are young now - we'll do it when they're older - but I think we need to take that time as a family and I am committed to making that happen in 2012.

Move forward with some sort of downloadable training here for you fine folks. Mack is fantastic at SO MANY things and he makes everything look so effortless - but if you asked me what he was put on the planet to do - it is to teach people how to see. He is an amazing teacher. He teaches even when he doesn't mean to be teaching and I really want to have more material here for you guys to get as much as possible from him - he is an amazingly brilliant human being who truly wants to do good!

Have more NDCQ Gear. available here We are working on hats now but we have some great ideas for some new and innovative Gear that we think will suit you well...

I have more - but this is a good start I think!

Much Love and Many Blessings to you all. Thank you for being a part of our lives :-)

Add me to the list of cheerleaders!

What a great idea Deb!

This year I'm going to run an 8K, 10K, and hopefully the Army 10 Miler. I was sidelined this past year with a heel spur but I think I've found a solution.

I'm also hoping to do a couple of 5K with obstacle courses including one in October where you run from Zombies. :)

I plan to continue working on my degree in Sports Medicine, I started back in July.

I'm working on getting a lot of unfinished business handled, health insurance, financial stuff, etc.

I'm also spending more time in the gym again now that I can acutally walk without it hurting. :)

There's probably a lot more but that's what I've got for now.

Deb, I'm sure you can get your ankle taken care of, have you found a sports medicine doc yet?

Mandy, I'm still toying with the idea of working to a half marathon, I think I want to run the Disney Princess half or something somewhere fun.

Christine

way to go!

Goals for year hmmm I want to totally run a 5K. I have knee issues from totally messing them up in school so I have to go slow, but I want to run. Disney has soome fun runs that I would love to participate in. That zombie run Christine mentioned sounds totally awesome!!! Other goals would be to get out into the sun more. I work nights so I tend to sleep during daylight hours. I need to work on surviving less sleep.

Best goal though was the play :)  that sounds like the key to a great 2012. Get out there and have some fun.

Zombie Run! I LOVE it!

Zombies!! What a crazy fun idea! You gotta do that and post pictures! What a blast! It sounds like we have several of us here recovering from or dealing with old injuries and getting back on our feet. Definitely have that in common. I know we can all get there, it may take us a bit, but we can do it.

Did that whole graveyard shift thing for over a decade. I loved it because nights were not "all chiefs and no indians" if you get my drift. It is very hard on your body though so good for you for working on taking care of yourself.

Play is not something I've been historically good at. It is one of my main goals in life at this point! I've pretty much raised my family, been very committed to that for 18 years and the last 10 have been quite difficult. I am ready to have some fun before I kick the bucket. Now I just have to find someone to share it with and then it will be even better. I'm not waiting though!

Speaking of fun, Miz Mandy, you get those vacations in. I know how tough it can be with little kids. I remember trying to get the kids (4) out the door for a week long camping trip and they were 3-7. It was like preparing for the invasion of Normandy, I swear! I know you know this, but it bears repeating- When they get older and are doing their own thing the one thing you will ardently wish is that you spent more time "playing" with them. One of the best memories and joys of my life was that trip. God, it was work but watching them experience new things, knowing each other in new ways, and making memories was well worth every bit. So get those trips in now if you have to move mountains to do it.

I did not find a sports medicine doc. I live in a small community in the sticks!! What I did get was a Physical Therapy refferal to evaluate my gait and ankle pain. If that doesn't do it then I will make the 75 mile trek to the next biggest community and look for a sports doc there who can help me. I am still walking 5 times a week on the treadmill and getting a good cardio workout.

Well, guys lets keep this ball rolling and keep track of each other! Deb
